Cover of The 5th Wave byRick Yancey |
I recently started reading 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. This book is about a girl named Cassie who finds herself in the middle of an alien invasion. I know, it sounds cheesy but it is actual a good book so far. Four waves of aliens have attacked earth and the fifth is on it's way. Over 75% of the population has been killed and everyone else is spread out in different refugee camps around the country.
Through the book Cassie will encounter aliens, other people who she can't trust, and groups of refugees on her way to try to save her brother who was taken from her by the soldiers before they tried to kill everyone else.
I'm not that far into the book yet but if I had to think of a theme for the book it would be, "No matter how hard things get they can be better." I think this because Cassie's life is really hard because both her parents died and her brother was taken away from her. To make things worse she was shot in the leg by one of the aliens so she is having an all around great day (Sarcasim used.) It got better for her when the alien left thinking that his job of killing her was done. Obbviously it is not because that would be a horrible end to a very short book. I think her life will also get better if she finds her brother. (Prediction In Other Blog) When she finds her brother I think her life will start turning for the better.
Sounds like a great action packed book! I plan on reading this book very soon!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds scary, but a good book. I wonder if it is like war of the worlds? Interesting. :)

ReplyDeleteSounds really cool indeed, like a great sci-fi esque one! Might read it, the cover looks cool too kinda mking me wanna read it more!~ Hope you enjoy it as you continue on.
ReplyDeleteThis actually sounds like a really good idea for the plot of a book. It sounds very sci-fi-ey and suspenseful. I think your theme statement sounds really good and it definately does sound like Cassie has had a tough life, and yet she is able to keep moving forward and try to find her brother. Hope you enjoy the rest of the book :)
