Recomendations

I have been reading other peoples blogs and it looks they are look for a new book to read.  Well this week I am doing book recomendations!(Cue applause)

1.Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
This book is a science fiction book.  It takes place in America.  It starts a few days before the main character, Beatrice, takes her aptitude test.  I will not tell you any more exept that the third one is still on it's way and I and I can't wait for it.

2. Life of Pi
This is my favorite book of all time.  It is about a boy named Picsne Patel who get stranded out at sea with a life boat full of animals, including a tiger.  The first half of it is written like a biography but it is not boring.  It is an amazing book and if you are wonder whether to watch the book or see the movie read the book.  If you haven't already done so I highly reccomend picking up this book.

3. A Brief History Of Time by Stephen Hawking
This book goes over everything from the Big Bang, to the string theory, too the theory of quantum mechanics, and everything in between.  If you are mentally shouting, "Nerd words.  What in the world does all that mean," no worries.  Hawking describe each and every theory in an easy to understand way.  I'm pretty much a super science nerd so this book was a must for me.  If you ever wanted to know more on any scientific theory; this would be a great book for you.

Please give  me some reccomend actions back.  I enjoy science fiction, dystopians, and anything really sciency.  I hate fantasy.  Please give reccomendations in comments.

Charactization Post

The 5th Wave uses mostly indirect characterization.

The main character, Cassie, is described through indirect characterization.  For example, she is trustworthy.  I know this because even if Evan, anew character, says her brother is probably dead, she is going to find him anyway.  This shows that she is trustworthy because Cassie made a promise to go back to get him and she will no matter what the situation or risk may be.

Ben is described through indirect characterization also.  "Reaching out my hand to comfort him, finding the top of his freshly shaved head, running my fingertips over his scalp.  Sissy liked for me to rub her head when she felt bad--maybe Nugget likes it too....'Come here,' I whisper to Nugget, scooting over and patting the mattress. 'I'll say your praye rwith you, and then you can go to sleep, okay?'"  This quote explained that Ben is caring.  I know this because Ben cares about Nugget enough to say his prayer with him evev though he will most likly get kitchen duty for a month.

Summary Update

On chapter 37 we get to read the book inSammy's point of view.  This section of the book is about him being taken to Camp Haven after the soldiers take him.  Once he gets there he is stamped healthy and taken through a series of tests including a test called Wonderland.  In his wonderland he sees remembers Cassie promising to come for him.

This is the first time we hear Sammy's point of view.  He wishes he had his bear and he wishes Cassie were able to come with him.

We also hear from Ben's poin of view again but this time he doesn't go by Ben anymore.  His name is now Zombie.  He is also at Camp Haven.  Instead of doing the test he is training for the war with a group of nine other recruits.  The one training him is a cruel guy named Reznik.  He pretty much tortures the group with physical activity.  For example, at the beginning of the chapter Zombie is forced to do 100 push ups.  After the 99th one Reznik kicks him to the ground and he has to start over.  Another example is when a new recruit comes and Reznik is shouting at the five year old kid making him cry.  Zombie tells Reznik to cut it out and he gets a punishment of more physical torture and now the new kid, Nugget, is his responsibility.

New Character!!!!!

In The 5th Wave we meet a new character in the first chapter of section two.  This character's name is Benjamin Parish.
What we know about him is that his family was killed by people who had been driven insane by the arrival of the "Others."  They killed his mom and his dad but not his sister.  He promised to look after her but later she gets killed by them too.  All he has to remember them by is his sister's silver locket that he always carries with him.
The other thing we know about him is that he has a sickness call The Red Death.  This is sweeping across the world killing almost every person who gets it, including Cassie's mother.  At first he thinks the plague will kill him for sure but he finds that he has a one in ten chance of living and he couldn't be happier.
For now that is all I know on the character.  I don't know if he lives or dies but I hope he lives.  I can't wait to find out more on this character!!!

Predictions on 5th Wave

I predict that Cassie will try to stop her brother from leaving on the bus with the other children.  I think that something tells her that she won't see her again if he leaves.  Cassie has no choice so she lets him go.  After he leaves the soldiers try to kill the other refugees that didn't leave.  She knows that her brother has been taken to a unsafe place.  i predict she will go after him to rescue him.  I think on the way she will meet the aliens and other refugees.  These will make her trip more complicated.  I hope she successes.

I Started Reading The 5th Wave

Cover of The 5th Wave byRick Yancey

I recently started reading 5th Wave by Rick Yancey.  This book is about a girl named Cassie who finds herself in the middle of an alien invasion.  I know, it sounds cheesy but it is actual a good book so far.  Four waves of aliens have attacked earth and the fifth is on it's way.  Over 75% of the population has been killed and everyone else is spread out in different refugee camps around the country.

Through the book Cassie will encounter aliens, other people who she can't trust, and groups of refugees on her way to try to save her brother who was taken from her by the soldiers before they tried to kill everyone else.

I'm not that far into the book yet but if I had to think of a theme for the book it would be, "No matter how hard things get they can be better."  I think this because Cassie's life is really hard because both her parents died and her brother was taken away from her.  To make things worse she was shot in the leg by one of the aliens so she is having an all around great day (Sarcasim used.) It got better for her when the alien left thinking that his job of killing her was done.  Obbviously it is not because that would be a horrible end to a very short book.  I think her life will also get better if she finds her brother. (Prediction In Other Blog) When she finds her brother I think her life will start turning for the better.
